Flood Announces Grant Funding to Support Local Fire and EMS Services

HARRISBURG – Rep. Ann Flood (R-Northampton) is pleased to announce $260,254 in grant funding has been secured to support local fire and emergency medical services (EMS) in the 138th District.

“As an advocate for the safety of our communities, I am thrilled that funding has been awarded to support our emergency responders,” said Flood. “These vital funds will strengthen our local fire and EMS teams, ensuring they have the resources needed to continue delivering life-saving services to the people of the 138th District.”

The following EMS and fire companies serving the 138th District have been awarded funding:

EMS COMPANIES:

• Bushkill Township: Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Co. ($15,000).
• Moore Township: Klecknersville Rangers Volunteer Fire Co. ($15,000).
• Palmer: Suburban EMS Inc. ($28,143).
• Wind Gap: Wind Gap Ambulance Corps Inc. ($10,000).

FIRE COMPANIES:

• Bangor: Blue Valley Rescue Squad Co. ($12,018); Liberty Fire Co. ($12,018); North Bangor Volunteer Fire Co. ($12,879); Rescue Fire Co. No. 1 ($12,448); Second Ward Fire Co. ($12,448); Washington Township Volunteer Fire Co. ($13,739).
• Bushkill Township: Bushkill Township Volunteer Fire Co. ($13,955).
• East Bangor: East Bangor Volunteer Fire Co. ($12,233).
• Martins Creek: Lower Mount Bethel/Sandts Eddy Fire Co. ($12,663).
• Mount Bethel: Mount Bethel Volunteer Fire Co. Inc. ($13,094).
• Pen Argyl: Lookout Fire Co. No. 1 of Pen Argyl ($12,018).
• Portland: Portland Hook and Ladder Co. No. 1 ($12,018).
• Roseto: Columbia Fire Co. ($12,018).
• Plainfield Township: Plainfield Township Volunteer Fire Co. ($15,676); Wind Gap Fire Co. ($12,879).

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner (OSFC). All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, not General Fund tax revenue.

Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, recruitment and retention, public education about fire prevention, and reduction of existing debt.
